About Us


Defiance Christian Church is a Bible-based, non-denominational, Spirit led church located in beautiful Defiance, Ohio.

We’re all about people. We’re all about people because God is all about people. One of the ways we express our love for Him is through our love for people, and we do that by helping each person who comes to DCC grow in their relationship with the Lord.


Meet our Team

Pastor Mike

Mike Hasselbring is our senior minister who brings a challenging message that God has laid on his heart each week.  We are blessed to have a humorous and real life servant along with his wife, son, and daughter to compliment our church.

Elder Team

We are blessed to be an elder led church who serve as the shepherds of our congregation as found in 1 Timothy 3.

Deacon Team

The deacons are servants who lead the ministries of DCC and are led by 1 Timothy 3:8-13.

Alicia

Alicia Mengerink is our office administrator who wonderfully handles the day to day church business.  We are so blessed to have Al to maintain and encourage all of us.

What We Believe

God

We believe there is only one eternal God, the creator of the entire universe. He exists in three persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus

We believe Jesus Christ lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. He will someday return to earth to judge both the living and the dead.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is present in the world to make everyone aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily.

Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, is without error, and is entirely relevant for daily living. The 66 books (Genesis – Revelation) represent the entire Word of God and is the final authority for the church.

Humanity

We believe humanity, created by God, willfully sinned and as a result is lost and without hope apart from receiving salvation through Jesus Christ.

Eternity

We believe all humans are destined to die once and then face judgment. All of humanity will spend its eternal existence either in Heaven with Christ or in Hell apart from God.

Salvation

We believe people are saved by God’s grace and that the process of salvation includes: believing in Him, repenting of sin, confessing Christ as their Lord and Savior, and being baptized, by immersion, in Christ for the forgiveness of sins.

Church

We believe the church is the corporate body of all who believe in the biblical Jesus Christ. Its mission is to go out into all the world and preach the Gospel, baptizing in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Communion

We believe the Lord instructed all believers to practice communion regularly in remembrance of his sacrifice. We take communion weekly and welcome all believers to join us.

Marriage

We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: The uniting of one man and one woman in a single exclusive union.
